About ME
Before I became a mother I was teacher for grades one and five. I loved teaching in the classroom, but I also enjoyed helping teachers improve and help parents understand how to help their children become life long learners.
I decided to go back to school nights and weekends while working full time. I earned an Education Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision for K-12. During my pregnancy I was working as an intern in the public school system to get experience as an assistant principal. I had planned to spend the summer helping out in the school, but that all changed when I found out that the tightness I was feeling in my belly was contractions at 25 weeks. I was told no more work and I was to take it easy.
I must not have been listening because by 26 weeks I was sent to triage at the hospital for an injection of terbutaline. Following that episode I was put on strict bedrest at home. At 29 weeks I had to stay in the hospital for 7 days under a dose of Magnesium to control contractions even further. Once released I was on a terbutaline pump full time at home and a contraction monitoring belt that sent reading by internet signal to a monitoring station. My boy/girl twins were born in September of 2008. A huge celebration for me because I delivered two small but healthy babies after spending 10 WEEKS ON BEDREST!
I knew I couln't start looking for another job until I had some experience as a mom and found some time for sleep! I began my job search when they were 9 months old. I was hired at a great school and asked to start right away. I worked for 1 school year and determined that I always needed more time at work and wanted more time at home so I decided to quit.
I started this blog to share some of the things I have learned as a Mom to Twins as well as little ideas I have come up with in my journey through parenting.
